Organic Honey Crisp Apples – Nationwide Sale, Recipes, etc.

The day before BlogHer Food, I had the chance to enjoy the Ferry Building in San Francisco with some gluten-free friends, and pick up a few food necessities … after all, you can’t count on any event to be dairy-free. Wendy darted straight for the produce and proclaimed, “I love Honey Crisp Apples!” I love apples, but I’m not a  connoisseur, so I took Wendy’s word and purchased a couple of the organic Honey Crisp Apples (for about $3 a lb – hey, I was on vacation!). They were tasty, but …

Are Sprouted Nuts and Nut Butters Better?

Oddly enough, I didn’t really like nuts as a kid, so I pretty much avoided them for most of my life. But, when I went strictly dairy-free I discovered their magical powers for creaminess, sweetness, and as a good protein / fat snack when things like string cheese were not on the munchy menu.

In my inbox today was an article from Team Beachbody entitled, “9 Foods Not to Give Your Kids.” Without even reading the article, I headed straight here to type.
Something deeply disturbed me at a restaurant recently. You know those very large thick plastic cups (maybe 32 oz?) that they serve bottomless pop in? (yes, I know, soda for California!) We watched the most obese child I have ever seen (probably about 7 or 8 years old) downing several of these, but that wasn’t the worst part. His little sister, who couldn’t have …
